Genesis Chapter 1 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth Beginning - in the Hebrew Barah - meaning to create out of nothing. God - Elohim - plural name for God indicating the Trinity. This name for God is used for God the creator. Other names for God are used in reference to His covenant relationship. Created - In the creation process, something so small our best microscopes would not be able
to detect it grew into something the end of which our best telescopes can not see. Heavens & earth: Not just heaven and earth, but time and space also. Whatever happened in the creation process, it only happened once.
1:2 And the earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep; Darkness: Not necessarily the absence of light.
1:3 Then God said, “Let there be light” “Let there be light” 1st of the ten commandments of Genesis.
1:4 And God saw that the light was good; Light was good: The blessing of the first day
1:5 And God called the light day, and the darkness He called night.
Darkness: In creation, darkness and disorder came first. Light: Morning brought light, order, and understanding.
1:8 And God called the expanse heaven. And there was evening and there was morning, a second day.
Second day; Day of separation, no declaration of “good.”
1:9-13 Creation of dry land “and it was good” Creation of vegetation “and it was good” And there was evening and there was morning, a third day. Third Day; The day of double blessing. See further commentary
1:26 Then God said “Let Us make man in Our image.” Let Us; The Trinity; See 3:22, 7:11, Isaiah 6:8, 48:12 & 16 and Psalm 2, A conversation between the three persons of the Trinity.
1:27 And God created man in His Own image Created man; Three times this is mentioned in Genesis. Another indication of the Trinity?...Why not?
His Own image; Like Christ, anticipating redemption.
1:28 And God blessed them; and god said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; The Trinity of man. See; 1 Thes. 5:23 & Heb. 4:12
1:29&30 Not to be used as argument for vegetarianism.
1:31 And God saw all that he had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning,
the sixth day. Very good; Meaning, “A unified order.”
Sixth day; From chaos to order in six steps. (6 days of creation)
